The shelter is actually just a few metal cages of varying sizes linked together and there was no neutering programme and puppies were continually being born there. Inevitably they didn't survive long or they simply disappeared.
The dogs were fed on the leftovers from a local supermarket deli counter. Their food dishes were old and rusty and fights often broke out due to bitches in season, feeding arrangements and overcrowding.
We have improved the shelter where we can, a quarantine area has been created where rubbish had once been dumped, we have had some new kennels made and we provide bedding.
We fundraise to provide proper food, vaccinations, neutering, treatment for parasites, blood test and medical care where needed.. Vulnerable dogs are removed and we work tirelessly to re-home the dogs
We are a group of animal loving volunteers who want to change the future of the Gonyeli dogs. We want to improve their lives in the shelter and re-home each dog.
Ideally a new shelter is needed and the council have plans but for now the dogs remain in an isolated area in metal cages, with a council worker attending for less than 1 hou

Ideally a new shelter is needed and the council have plans but for now the dogs remain in an isolated area in metal cages, with a council worker attending for less than 1 hour a day to feed them.
If you have some time to spare we welcome anyone who would like to come and walk the dogs or just come play with them. All contributions, whether it's time, toys, food or fostering a dog, are greatly appreciated.
